Our home is our castle.  I love that cliché. I grew up in NYC. We were poor and often my tiny family was without a home. We moved constantly and  lost much of our personal belongings along the way. Today many years later I really do feel my home is my castle. I am and will always be grateful that I was eventually able to live the American dream, and own a home. Now, many decades later, I live in sunny Florida. As Americans we all wanted a house and a white picket fence to raise our families in.  Through the decades nothing has changed and everybody still wants to own a home. I used to believe it was the safest investment one could make. I’m not sure that is still true now in 2013.

• Do the research and know the neighborhood where you are buying and the similar home values-Do the same if you are selling and price your home accordingly
• As a seller, give your house a cosmetic face lift if necessary
• If you are a buyer, have an inspection done on the property-
• As a seller- repair damage in your home
• Remember first impressions are lasting.  Curb appeal can make or break a sale.
• Make sure your house is ultra clean- get rid of dirty laundry and clean the litter box
